The kitchen cabinets are filled with dirt, grime and mouse feces. The oven is completely coated with burned food and grease, the fridge had mold all around the seal and there were paint chips on the floor around the door frame on the living room.
My landlord installed a new door on one of the bedrooms and left sawdust, splinters and tools behind. He promised to clean them up at two different times yesterday, but nothing has been done.
New carpet was installed before we moved in and now carpet is hanging into a couple of the electrical outlets, which is definitely a fire hazard.
My house connects to a studio apartment through a causeway. Our key does not unlock the door to the apartment, just the door to the causeway, so if someone were living in the studio apartment they would have access to our house. My key also unlocks the studio apartment.
I have taken pictures of all of these problems, but I have no idea who to send them to when filing a complaint.
I will be calling my landlord to complain about these issues first thing tomorrow morning.
I live in Kentucky, if that makes any difference legally.
When my roommate and I looked at the place about a month ago, the landlord kept saying he still had things to fix and clean up and they would absolutely be done before I moved in. I guess I’m a little naive to think that a landlord would actually do the things that he’s legally required to do before I moved in.

Did you inspect it prior to signing a lease agreement. That place is hazardous on so many levels I would walk out if you can. If not, he’s obligated to fix and clean up anything that presents as a hazard. Look up the landlord/tenant associate for your city (they are an employee of the city so look it up in the phone book). Explain what’s going on. In some cases (I don’t know specifically for your state) you can rent a hotel room at the landlord’s expense while he’s doing the proper repairs. Make sure you document and give all details when you call to the city. You’d be looking for a property standards type of department in city hall. Good luck.
Send the pictures to your landlord. Tell him you will hire a cleaning service and contractor to fix all these problems and take the cost out of the rent, since he isn’t able to take care of the problems.
You didn’t look at the house before you moved in. Mouseie stuff in the cabs & grease in the stove.
You didn’t do your due diligence., but not to worry. just tell landlord of your concerns. now that he has your first/last and maybe security, he should have the funds to get your problems corrected.
Go out and spend $15 and change the locks if Landlord won’t do it . keep the receipt, hand it in with cash for the rest of the rent next month.

There is no one to complain to, other then the landlord. Once you moved in you legally accepted it. As you found it acceptable, at least from a legal stand point, it is now time to buy yourself some Spic and Span and get it into the condition you desire.
