It will depend on what style you like and how it would flow with the other areas of the house. You can use grays for the walls except one accent wall maybe and just use a color such as a deep, rich turquoise, red,or a bright light(apple)green for the curtains, backsplash, towels, pics, tableware,& other accessories.I personally would favor the turquoise for a guy or couple. Red, black and white is used so much that it is expected.I would suggest the backsplash be a combo of the gray, black, and white. The “color” can be changed easily if you tire of it, leaving the neutral room as it is.

You have tons of options with your black, white and gray (steel) color scheme. A light shade of sky blue, aqua, celery green would work. Red or cinnamon would too. You don’t mention the color of your counters, though, and that’s another factor you need to weigh.

A goldish, orangish yellow color.
OR
A lavender color
OR
A light calming green color
OR
A sky blue color

You have a pretty easy color scheme to work with so basically any color would look nice but those are my top 4 color choices.

With black and white. Any color. Honestly.your choices are unlimited.

Maybe these sites can give you inspiration:

http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/paint_colors/index.jsp

http://www.behr.com/Behr/home#

Some thoughts:

Yellow induces stress and people argue more often in yellow rooms than any other colored room. (”Get it Sold”, HGTV)

Green is restful and time seems to past faster in green rooms.

Tans and beiges are calming.

Peaches, tans, and burnt oranges make for harmonious meals. Great for kitchens.

Blue kills the appetite.fine for a bedroom, but maybe not for a kitchen (”Designed to Sell”, HGTV)

Light colors make a room look larger. Dark colors add drama.

Colors with a gray or tan undertone are more peaceful than colors without any such undertone (HGTV).

—————————-

Once you pick a color you like this site can help you with accent colors:

http://www.sherwin-williams.com/visualizer/index.html

Click on the “Explore Interior Colors” box (on the left). Then scroll until you find a shade similar to your favorite color pick. Click on that color and the site will offer you 2 accent colors.

Also, Sherwin Williams sells sample sized paints for about $10, so you can test your color choices to see if you like them on your walls without risking a huge investment.

You can use dark red or dark blue type of colors.
They will suit with the black flooring.
Also, you should select colors according to the designs you got on your floor tiles.

Normally, kitchens do no have very much wall space on account of the cabinetry and the appliances along with the entry way(s). It is probably the only room in the house where you can get an unusual color combination going without it looking out of place.

With your totally neutral existing elements, you could really go with just about ANY color. But what color. Without knowing what your style is or how the adjoining rooms are decorated, it is really hard for me to pick a color for you. Do you like Retro (red and turquoise) or country (barn red, sunflower yellow, rust) or contemporary (bold orange, royal blue, grey).

However, I can help you pick the color that is right for you. You need some inspiration. I would go to the kitchen section of a store like Macy’s, Home Goods, TJ Max and Marshall’s, Bed Bath and Beyond, Crate and Barrel or William Sonoma. There you can see the current color pallets in kitchenware. Certainly there will be something in one of those stores that you cannot live without, whether it be a dish towel or a bowl. Then, go from there with your color scheme. I always find it easier to find an accessory for inspiration in color, then picking the paint first. This technique will always give you a good sense of decorating direction. You could also get inspired by fabric for your curtain or table linens as there are many colors and pattern combinations to consider.

I realize I did not help you with an actual paint color, but in my business, my suggestions here have never failed my clients.

I hope you end up with what you absolutely love.
