Can you tell me the name of this kitchen gadget/tool.

I bought this gadget/tool a few months ago without knowing the name. It is hand held and looks and works almost like a peeler but makes julienne from potato, carrots etc. The store does not carry any more of this tool and I want to buy one more for my Mom. Since I don’t know […]

Gizmodo has been running a set of features on different types of cooking methods, and one that caught our eye is the induction article. We’ve long been fascinated with this cooking method because instead of using a flame like gas, or radiant heat like standard electric burners, induction burners use a magnetic field. Yep - that’s right MAGNETS. Current passing through conductive material generates heat instead of flame or electricity heating up a burner. Check it out - it’s an amazing read. What is the coolest gadget priced under $200.

I am wanting to buy myself a really awesome new toy (in the “grown-up who loves electronics” sense). I was considering getting the new Sony Walkman S Series, GPS, or a new digital camera. […]

We recently upgraded this Summer from our Weber Q 200 gas grill when we finally got the Kitchen Contraptions porch upgraded and made a bit larger to accommodate seating and most of all a larger grill. After much deliberation we went with the Weber Genesis Special Edition EP-310 Propane Gas Grill . We loved the look of the grill right away, and we knew we could get the Weber rotisserie attachment for it, along with the Special Edition Genesis having some improvements in the drip tray area and other niceties like a built in gas gauge. Weber Genesis Special Edition EP-310 Propane Gas Grill Features: 637 sq. in. cooking space 42K BTUs 3 stainless steel burners Porcelain lid with stainless steel trim 7MM stainless steel rod cooking grates (we chose not to use these and buy additional cast iron grates from Weber - as we prefer that surface and the way it seasons the bars) Stainless steel flavorizer bars Stainless steel wire warming rack Electronic ignition Stainless steel working surface Tank not included Color we chose was Black One thing as noted above, we didn’t use the stainless steel cooking grates, but instead decided to get an additional set of the cast iron grates to cook on. We haven’t liked stainless steel cooking grates when we’ve used them, and this was our decision.

I moved last May to another apartment and while I am.

living here I discovered that the kitchen cabinets are some kind of different wood that you can’t possibly put a nail through because they are like cement. I think they are wood but they are like cement. What kind of wood would be like cement. This must have been a cheap kind […]

Here’s some good news if you’ve got an old household appliance you’ve been wanting to replace. The government’s $300 million dollar incentive plan will help you pay for it. The plan is meant to help the appliance industry by giving a boost to slow appliance sales nationwide, but the relatively small amount of cash will not make a big impact on major appliance appliance dealers such as Whirlpool, GE, and Electrolux. There are also some potentially confusing details to be worked out: The Wall Street Journal says unlike the clunkers plan, the program allows each state to pick qualifying models and tailor rebate amounts. Ohio might decide one washing machine qualifies for a $100 rebate, while California picks another for $125
