I think he has a couple of things going on. One is separation anxiety. Whenever you are not in sight, he becomes destructive. Two - he has submissive urination.

Here are a couple of articles. You also might want to consider talking to a professional behaviorist.

You can do additional research about these problems.

Good luck to you

chewing is due to boredom. walking is not enough for that breed. he constantly wants to learn and when he is not learning something or appl;ying his energy to something he will chew. practice his obedience and get puzzle toys and aggility toys

Try Tobasco Sauce. I tried the bitter apple spray and my pup would go over right after I sprayed it and lick it up. He wouldn’t touch tobasco though. Also 1 long walk a day is not enough exercize for a lab pup. Take him for 2 or more 1/2 an hour to hour long walk a day. As for the pee thing, he could be over excited or his bladder may be too full. Try taking him out to potty about 5 mins before your guests come over and see if that works. Good luck.

An 8 month old lab should not be chewing this much. Especially, if you have worked on it. I would get him checked out for a food allergy. My neighbor’s dog has an extreme allergy to all types of dog food. Because of this, the dog resulted in chewing up everything. Literally. That may not be the case with your dog. But I know that he definitely has a bad habit of it. Also, crating a dog is not mean. My dog loves his crate, it’s his spot where he goes to get away from things. Eventually, your dog will learn to love it too.
