Hello, I am currently in the process of trying to choose paint colors for my newly constructed home. It is a fairly large home (4400 sq. ft.), and the main floor is VERY open. All of our color selections for flooring were quite neutral. Our main floor is partially carpeted with an off white color, and also has hardwood running throughout the foyer, powder room, and kitchen in a medium-dark wood tone.
The foyer is 2 stories high, and showcases a cascading staircase. The rooms I need to paint include : foyer, hallways, formal LR, formal DR, Family Room, Kitchen, Powder room, and Sun-room. I also have a library on the main floor, but it is behind a closed french door, so the color in that room could be slightly more unique. At almost any vantage point, you can see all of the rooms.
My question is, can anyone recommend a color palette that will be compatible with such a large space, yet still remain “not boring.” I was thinking a light brown/beige for the foyer/halls, but then I am stuck on as to what colors would match this to use in the adjoining rooms. I need help, as I am going crazy looking at the boring builder-white walls.
Additional note: Kitchen has dark cherry cabinetry, SS appliances, and black granite counters.

check out the model home of our house we painted the walls almost the exact same color. It may seem like a “boring” color scheme, but furniture, pillows and other accsesories bring the color to life.

I suggest choosing only 4 colors, that are related to each other but in 4 different intensities. You can paint all open spaces with a neutral color, (foyer, hallways, etc) , then use a medium intensity color for kitchen/family room), a darker color for LR and DR, and the darkest color for the Library to create drama, and the Powder room. Use the neutral color in your sun room, cause accents, plants and fabrics in furniture usually get the main atention in these rooms. hope to help, can send pictures for more advise to: cavall2020@yahoo.com
