While I was on vacation the chain broke on the toilet and my roommate called panicking (we rent a room to him out of our home). We said he could get the part from Home Depot or hire someone to come fix it and we would pay him back when we got home. Instead of the two options he used 2 of out cooking utensils in the toilet. We asked him to pay to replace it and he wanted us to just run them through the dish washer and then use them in the kitchen again. Disgusting. Do you think he should have to replace them. Worst part is they were part of a set they no longer make any more.
He didnt save us money, we still had to call a repair man when we got home.
Wow I’m really shocked at how negative everyone has been. He is not the prefect renter. He’s a slob and refuses to clean up after himself. When we got home the kitchen counter was covered in dirty dishes and rotten food and the carpet was never vacuumed. The place was a mess. 2 days before we left on vacation I hired a maid to clean the house top to bottom so it would be nice when we got home, but it’s a mess now. The garbage is overflowing. He refuses to clean up his mess.
We had a repair man come before we got home since the renter would call several times a day freaking out about every little thing. (Our neighborhood had a small power outage too). He even called when his car broke down.
Asking him to run to the Home Depot for a part should have been no big deal but he was too lazy. Especially taking in to consideration the 2 times his car got towed, & the 3 times his car broke down we drove him around. We never asked for gas money. We have gone above and beyond as “landlords”
