My husband and I are getting ready to demo and remodel a kitchen that should be in the Smithsonian’s American History museum, and we’re trying to decide on appliances. We don’t have a lot of money to spend but we’ve found two brands that sound good. We’re stuck between GE and Whirlpool.Lowe’s and IKEA carry the Whirlpool appliances and they’re pretty comparable in price, but Home Depot and Sears carry GE. GE CleanSteel sounds interesting but is that line and/or brand any good. Any recommendations for which brand would be the better buy. We want to buy a set of appliances from the same line so they all match and look good together. Please help.

I would go with Whirlpool but they also have another brand that I have found is as good - Roper brands. Good luck.
I have not had any trouble out of my Whirlpool appliance. Sears and Whirlpool are made by the same company.
Each company has different problems with different appliances. I do know whirlpool washers are tops right now. THe other appliances, I dont know
