Building new home and looking at gas (lp) ranges and cooktops w/built-in grills. Please let me know what brand you have, if you like or dislike it and why.
Really like pro style look, but don’t want to pay price.it seems real pro ranges/cooktops are less expensive but don’t offer the higher and lower btu range that you see in home pro styles. Also, may be insurance issues.
Please help with my “survey”. I’m drawn to Jenn-air downdrafts and Kitchen-aid.
Thank you.

Go to store websites that sell those appliances and look for consumer opinions, they are pretty accurate.
We have a Kitchen-Aid all stainless cook top. It has 4 burners of varying size (BTU output) with one designed to be a simmer burner.
It is fueled with propane and has worked without a problem since we purchased it about 9 years ago.
Since we are using propane, the burners tend to put out more heat than they would if they were burning natural gas. This in only a problem when you try to simmer or cook certain things. We have to use one of those steel discs (some people call them simmer plates) to keep things like rice from burning.
One nice feature is the way the top is constructed. It forms a reservoir around the burners so that any spill or boil over is contained and doesn’t get into the burners or over flow on to the cabinet top.
We have a a Whirlpool pop-up downdraft exhaust behind the cook top. It is okay but not really very effective at pulling smoke out of the area. I think you will find any that have a built in grill with a down draft exhaust will have a similar problem.
If you want to grill inside, you really need a extra large overhead exhaust.
