COUNTER TOPS
Different counter top materials are used in
different areas of the country because of
climate. Choose a countertop material of at
least 1 1/8 (like granite, quartz, etc.) or more
(other stone, tile, etc.). If the counter top is
greater than 1 1/8 thick, you might need
shims (not included) to install the appliance
(grill, side burner, wok, refreshment center)
flush to the countertop for those appliances that
sit on the deck of the appliance cabinet. For grills
and appliances that hang from the countertop,
shims will not be necessary, but depending on
the height of the appliance, spacers may be
ordered with the appropriate trim kit to fill
the gap below the hanging appliance and
above the door or drawers.
The countertop is laid across the tops of the
cabinets and is usually installed with silicone,
which gives with movement from heat or
cold. After the countertop, electrical, water,
etc. is installed the appliances can be installed
and the kitchen is complete.
