INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
Before designing a layout or installing an outdoor
kitchen, check all local regulations as they relate to
gas and water hookups, outdoor electrical
installations, wastewater removal and permit
requirements.
Danver s cabinets have been designed to be
easy to install by any contractor familiar with
kitchen cabinet installation. They are
European design cabinets with concealed,
stainless steel hinges and they come with
leveling legs where the toe kick clips to the
legs. The stainless doors, drawer fronts and
drawers provide the rich, contemporary look
to complement professional, high-quality
outdoor appliances, and the stainless steel
construction will withstand the elements: it
will not absorb moisture, rot, swell, split or
crack in sun, rain, snow or saltwater. The
Easy-Alignment design allows for quick,
precise installation with less labor than
standard cabinetry. Access holes in key
locations makes it easy to do plumbing,
electrical installation, etc. where drilling,
cutting, and boring might have been
necessary. Minimum maintenance of
periodically cleaning the stainless is all that is
required to keep the cabinets looking pristine.
The cabinets are designed to be 34 high
(standard for an indoor kitchen) where the toe
kick area is 4 , and the cabinet box is 30
high. The countertop is mounted on top of the
installed cabinets for a total height of
approximately 36 . It is usually attached by a
silicone adhesive. The actual toe kick piece
that clips to the cabinet legs is 4 3/8 so it fits
easily in the toe kick area under the cabinet.
The leveling legs on each cabinet allow for
adjustments on uneven surfaces. While the
legs adjust from 3 to 5 , anything less
than 4 3/8 will require cutting the toe kick
down. To avoid this, typically the first cabinet
installed is placed at the highest point and the
other cabinets are leveled from there. The leg
adjustment range to 5 allows up to an inch
of surface fall-off from the highest point. If the
ground drops off more than that, shims must
be used (not supplied) or longer legs must be
purchased, however this is typically not the
case. Optional stainless legs can be purchased
where the owner prefers to see the cabinet
legs as a design feature or prefers to have
open space under the cabinets for cleaning
access.
The stainless steel is 304 series (commercial
grade), #4 brushed finish, 20-24 gauge
depending on the cabinet component. 316
series stainless (marine-grade) is available for
an upcharge, although this is usually not
necessary unless it comes in contact with salt
water continuously. The grain on the doors
and drawer fronts is vertical on all cabinets,
side panels and back panels. Appliances
usually have horizontal grain, but since many
of them have hand-ground surfaces, the
standard #4 brush wouldn t match the
appliance anyway, so the vertical grain on the
cabinets provides an attractive contrast.
Horizontal grain is available as a custom
order.
Side panels and back panels are thick and
are screwed to the cabinets through the inside
walls. All panels are 30 high to match the
cabinet boxes leaving toe kick exposed on the
sides and backs (where back panels are
installed). This makes for easy cleaning and
good air flow under the cabinets. In order for
the back panels to have the consistency of the
vertical grain, larger cabinets might have 2
back panels.
The standard side panels are available in two
sizes. The deepest, OSP31 3/8, is used when a
grill cabinet is installed against a house to provide
an extra 3 of distance from a wall usually
called for by the grill manufacturer (see grill
manufacturer s specs and check with local codes). If
additional depth is needed, you will need to order a
custom depth side panel. The other standard panel
is for island installations, where the OSP27 7/8
matches the depths of the cabinets (27 7/8 ).
